Sean Murphy is the global head of Norton Rose Fulbright’s blockchain and distributed ledger group. Sean regularly speaks at blockchain/smart contract industry seminars, and has co-authored Norton Rose Fulbright’s global legal and regulatory guides to cryptocurrencies, distributed ledgers and smart contracts. Sean advises technology start-ups, financial institutions and venture capital and private equity firms on fundraisings, investments and acquisitions and on the legal and regulatory issues relating to the deployment of distributed ledger and blockchain technology. Sean led Norton Rose Fulbright’s recent appointment to provide legal and regulatory advice to the newly formed industry group – the Post-Trade Distributed Ledger Group (PTDL).
On 3 March 2016 Sean moderated the smart contracts panel at the US Digital Chamber of Commerce’s inaugrual DC Blockchain summit. Sean has also moderated panels on ‘Unlocking the blockchain’ – looking at the potential applications of the blockchain technology and the key legal and regulatory considerations and also ‘Understanding smart contracts‘. Sean was a panelist at BNP Paribas’ seminar: ‘Beyond Bitcoin’, looking at the post-trade applications of the blockchain, and also spoke at the Securities Industry Conference (SIC) in October 2015 on the same topic.
