Senator for Economics, Technology and Research in the government of the State of Berlin
Cornelia Yzer is the Senator for Economics, Technology and Research in the government of the State of Berlin. Yzer held different government positions on national and state level in Germany. Furthermore she has a longstanding track record as business executive and as a member of supervisory boards. She also has been a lawyer for more than 25 years. Currently she is also chairwoman of the supervisory board of the investment bank IBB and vice chair of the supervisory board of Messe Berlin. In the past Yzer served as chairwoman of the water management company BWB, the German Cancer Institute DKFZ and the Max Delbrück Center of Molecular Medicine MDC. Prior to her present position Yzer was Director General of the German Association of Research-Based Pharmaceutical Companies (1997-2012), Member of the German Bundestag (1990-1998), Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Women and Youth and at the Federal Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Technology (1992-1997) and held senior management positions at Bayer AG. Yzer studied law and economics at the universities of Bochum and Münster.
